No Child Left Inside

Friday, April 19th 8:30am-12:30 p.m.
 Silva Valley's Fifth Annual “No Child Left
Inside Day” is a school-wide
outdoor classroom experience. Exciting activities such as
habitat exploration, erosion experiments, orienteering, fossils, and solar
observations were staged around the Silva Valley campus. Fourth
and fifth grades went on a walking field-trip to nearby Serrano
creeks.

The last day to turn in order
forms and money was March 8 . Over
40% of sales went to SVPTA. Candles have been handed
out.

It was February 11th and
12th!
SpiritWear Still Available
 There are limited quantities of sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and gym shorts available for purchase in the front office.
We ordered some extras when we placed our winter spirit wear order just in case students saw them and wanted more!
Pancake Breakfast 
The Pancake Breakfast was Feb. 2nd
from 8:30am-10:30am. It included a performance by our favorite singing group: The Silva Valley Kindergarteners!
BINGO Family Fun Night
This FREE event was Thursday, November 29th, 5:00 -7:00 pm.
Pizza and other concessions were available for purchase.
Spirit Wear
Orders were due Friday, November 16.
They will be delivered in December.
Walk-a-Thon
 The Walk-a-Thon, our Biggest Fundraiser of the Year, was October 12. It raised money for educational
programs while giving our students a chance to test themselves
physically: Students had 30 minutes to walk as many laps
around the school field as they could.
Every
student received a free Walk-A-thon t-shirt, even if they
chose not to participate. Students with $40 or more in
donations received a Silva Valley nylon drawstring
backpack.
Help Needed!
 Box Tops
We will be counting Box Tops three times this year and could sure use some help! If you can volunteer to count your classroom's Box Tops, please contact Lara Wismar at lara.wismar@gmail.com.
Free Family Fun Night
 Silva Valley's Free Family Fun Night was Friday September 28.
Beat Street presented Boom Tap: Beat boxing, break dancing, street drumming. It was a blast!
Entertainment Book Sale
The Entertainment Book Sale was August 31st - September 14th.
Our students sold 429 books for a profit of over $6,000 for the school.
We handed out over 300 frozen treats and approximately 200 students enjoyed time in Gamez on Wheelz. Mrs. Paridon's class was the top selling class and enjoyed a yummy pizza party. The Ice Age prizes have been ordered and will be delivered to your student in a few weeks.

Ice Cream Festival
The Ice Cream Festival was Friday August 10, 2012,
5-7 pm.
FREE to Silva Valley Families
It was a blast! We enjoyed free ice cream, free hot dogs, free entertainment, and free activities!
Thank you to all the entertainers who helped make the Ice Cream Festival such a fun evening: West Coast Martial Arts, The Manuel Soto Band, Zumba with Carol, Howdy Do Dat? Magician, Caricature Artist John Denton, and Le Beau Balloon. We also want to thank Rich Solis for his awesome Hot Dog Cart!
