February 2012 Update
Mark Your Calendars for Upcoming Foundation Events

The 3rd Annual Toast to Education will be held on Saturday evening, May 19th , at the Blackstone Community Clubhouse in El Dorado Hills. The gala, our biggest fundraiser of the year, will feature dinner, dancing and entertainment as well as silent and live auctions, and an amazing raffle.

The Toast event is a great way for community leaders and corporate sponsors to get involved, so please help spread the word to your employers, friends and neighbors. Last year’s event raised $30,000 in support of the Foundation’s mission to protect and enhance the education of all K-8 students in the Buckeye Union School District. Tickets will go on sale soon, visit www.buckeyefoundation.org for more details. Committee volunteers are still needed to help plan the evening and wrangle auction and raffle items.

We are excited to announce that the schools will once again be hosting Jump Rope for Education to benefit the Foundation on May 15th . Last year, this fun kid-powered effort raised $16,000 to support our programs!

Also, mark your calendars for this year’s Splash into Summer Family Fun Day at the El Dorado Hills Sports Club on Tuesday, June 5th, the last day of school. This event has developed into a cool end-of-school-year tradition for our school families. Don’t miss out!

To get involved (we need more volunteers from each school) or for more information, visit www.buckeyefoundation.org or email info@buckeyefoundation.org. You also can connect with the Foundation through Facebook and “Like” us to receive regular updates. All are welcome to attend Foundation board meetings held the fourth Wednesday of each month, 7:00p.m. at the district office in Shingle Springs.

January 2012 Update
“Buckeye’s Best” Talent Show a Huge Success

The 1st annual district-wide talent show on December 9th was an amazing night for our community with loads of local talent on display. The sold out program showcased 43 acts featuring a total of 100 participants from each of the seven elementary and middle schools in the Buckeye Union School District. What a gifted group of students we have!

Combined with the art show displaying the work of several creative artists, the night raised more than $2000 for the Buckeye Education Foundation in support of our schools. Thank you to all those in our community who planned, participated in and supported the talent show.

Volunteers are now needed to help plan the 3rd Annual Toast to Education this spring, our biggest fundraiser of the year. To get involved or for more information, visit www.buckeyefoundation.org, email info@buckeyefoundation.org, connect with the Foundation through Facebook, and/or attend Foundation board meetings the fourth Wednesday of each month, 7:00p.m., at the district office in Shingle Springs.

Forty Talented Acts Will Perform at the December 9th “Buckeye’s Best” Talent Show and Art Sale

Roll out the red carpet and fire up the spotlights! Over 70 talented students and groups auditioned in November for a spot in the 1st annual “Buckeye’s Best” district-wide talent show. After much deliberation by judges, a total of 40 acts, representing each of the seven elementary and middle schools in the Buckeye Union School District, were chosen to perform.

Come enjoy an exciting family night full of singing, dancing, music, art and laughter on Friday, December 9th, at the Cameron Park Community Center Assembly Hall. The art show opens at 6 p.m., and talent show starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. There will be performances by both middle school bands and tasty concessions will be sold. Tickets are $10 at the door (kids on laps are FREE) and all proceeds benefit the Buckeye Education Foundation’s community-driven support for our schools.

It’s not too late for students to donate artwork for the art sale portion of the show. All mediums and dimensions (except video) are welcome. Interested students may submit one piece of artwork each, labeled on back with their name, school and grade, to our school’s front office by Friday, December 2nd.

September 2011 Update
We are so proud to report that last month the Buckeye Education Foundation was able to once again fund the reinstatement of key District physical education (P.E.) and library positions previously cut for the 2011-2012 school year. What a big win for our students and our community! Funding teaching positions is something individual campus PTAs and PTOs cannot do -- that’s why the Foundation is so important.

The success of the Foundation relies heavily on support from every one of our 3,200 district families. The Buckeye Education Foundation’s Annual Giving Campaign for 2011-2012 is coming to a close. If you haven’t already donated to this year’s campaign, you may do so online www.buckeyefoundation.org. Please support our efforts!

Volunteers also are needed on several Foundation committees. Contact Shannon Yoffie at info@buckeyefoundation.org if you can help.

Also, mark your calendars for the first annual “Best of Buckeye” Talent Show on December 9th at 6 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Center Assembly Hall. This will be an all-Buckeye Union School District youth talent show and art auction. Bring your family and friends for a fun night of entertainment! Tickets will be $10 per seat at the door, treats will be provided and all money raised will benefit students in all seven elementary and middle schools.
