Family Fun Night
- Tuesday, March 23rd, 6:30-8:00 p.m.at the Silva
Valley Gym
A free evening with Phil Tulga presenting "Reading in Rhythm".
This program begins with an entertaining exploration of the rhythms of
language through shared reading, hand and body movements, and a variety
of instruments. Students will make their own rain sticks, talking tubes,
and guiros, then join together for a concert of reading, rhythm and
movement.

Monday, March 8th: "Stranger
Awareness and Bullying", a 20 minute
presentation by Gary Merlo of West Coast Martial Arts.

Tuesday, March 23rd: Phil
Tulga's "Reading Fluency & Singing". Fluent
reading sounds like talking. This simple principle is at
the core of the Reading Fluency and Singing
presentation. Through the use of familiar rhymes,
historical speeches, and songs, students are engaged in
an entertaining model of fluent reading.

Monday, April 26th: "Journey
through the Human Body" presented by the
Explorit Science Center of Davis. A presentation of 4
body systems: skin, lungs, heart, & digestion. Student
volunteers will assist with demonstrations.

Monday, May 3rd: "The
Bullying Game". Students participate in a
high-energy game show like "Family Feud." Topics
include: what to do when confronted by a bully, why
teasing is hurtful, and when to ask for help.
